CONCERNED with the safe driving among the motorists during the upcoming festive season, a free Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (Puspakom) vehicle inspection was offered to the public at Sin Hock Soon Transport in Butterworth yesterday.

The programme received a huge response from the local community when many cars could be seen queuing up for the free inspection since 9am.

The one-day free inspection programme was jointly organised by Bagan Jermal service centre, Penang Road Safety Department (JKJR), Puspakom and Sin Hock Soon Transport Sdn Bhd in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Its assemblyman Soon Lip Chee said he hoped through this programme, motorists would send their vehicles for inspection first before going back to their hometown during the festive season.

“Apart from that, today’s programme also includes a road safety exhibition by JKJR, consulting services by Puspakom and truck’s blind spots demonstration.

“All of these were done in order to inculcate responsible road safety habits and to instil awareness among the motorists.

“Thus, I hope from such efforts we can reduce the road accidents, especially during the festive season,” Soon said in his speech during the programme at Sin Hock Soon Transport in Butterworth yesterday.

His speech text was read out by Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) councillor Khong Chee Seong.

Also present were state JKJR director M. Thurkah Thevi and Puspakom marketing and advisory head Datuk Ooi Win Juat.
