To equip the younger generation with a deeper understanding of the automotive field, especially on heavy vehicles, Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) has taken the initiative to organise the Puskidzania programme.

MBSP mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the programme, which also involved parents, attracted more than 100 participants consisting of students.

“Through this programme, the participants will get to know the heavy vehicles used by the MBSP during their daily operations and how our technicians handle them,” he said in his speech before launching the Puskidzania programme at Pusat Servis Kenderaan Berat (PUSKEB) near Butterworth today.

According to Rozali, the participants were divided into several groups with each group having their own facilitator.

“The facilitators are our own MBSP mechanics. From them, the participants get to learn more about the technical aspects, such as the hydraulic system, engine system, gearbox and many more,” he added.

There were nine types of MBSP heavy vehicles on display, such as backhoe, skylift, towing, roro, road sweeper, water jetter, electric motorcycle, fire truck and compactor. In total, there were 137 MBSP vehicles on display.

Furthermore, Rozali said the programme was also in line with the Penang2030 vision as it strengthened civic participation.

There were exhibition booths from several automotive companies, such as Isuzu, Nissan and many others displaying some of their latest models.

“This event provides a good opportunity for the participants to learn some valuable knowledge about new technologies.

“I would like to express my gratitude also to the automotive companies for their endless support to our programme,” he said.

Also present were council secretary Rosnani Mahmod and city councillors.
