Indulgence of curry at the Mini Curry Festival

WHEN the aromatic curry dishes of Indian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Eurasian tickle your nostrils and make your stomach rumble, there is no way of resisting it.

This was what was experienced by the visitors of Mini Curry Festival who had a wholesome curry experience at the Hin Bus Depot on April 16.

The Mini Curry Festival is one of the food series of the Penang International Food Festival 2019.

The Hin Bus Depot gave an extraordinary ‘food experience’ where the artistic and nostalgic atmosphere made the festival a little unique.

State Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the festival was a celebration of Penang’s diverse range of flavours.

“Penang is a melting pot of cultures and where else can you find a variety of curries to fill your gastronomic appetite.

“Looking at the diversity of the stalls here today, it is no wonder that Penang is dubbed as the curry capital of the region.

“You are tasting the essence of what makes Penang such a unique place to eat and our food is the representation of our identity,” Yeoh said during his speech at the event.

Among the curry dishes showcased at the festival were Tandoori dishes, Thai Green Curry with Thai Noodle, Claypot Curry Fish Ball, Japanese Curry Potatato Croquette, Air Itam Sisters Curry Mee, Adam’s Famous Chicken Curry Puff and Nyonya Curry Chicken.There was also the vibrant Indian classical music performance by the Penang Tabla Society.

Also present at the festival were Penang Global Tourism chief executive officer Ooi Chok Tan and TLM Event managing director Jack Wong.
