THE Penang government will continue with its effort to work closely with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as Rotary Club of Penang to improve socioeconomic development in the state.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said it is important to provide more opportunities to the people through various collaborations and concerted efforts.

“None of us here can do that alone as we need to work together to create more platforms for public involvement in social development,” he said in his speech during the Intercity Fellowship Night of Rotary Club of Penang at Eastern & Oriental Hotel today.

The gathering was held to foster a stronger relationship between fellow Rotarians.

Chow said the Penang2030 vision could serve as a blueprint for the nation.

“We take great pride in our initiatives to build a family-focused green and smart state that inspires the nation,” he said.

Alternatively, Chow added the state and Rotarians have been working closely together since 1929.

“Our aim remains the same, which is to improve the socioeconomic status of the community, in line with the Penang2030 vision.

“I understand that many people have received assistance from the Rotary Club of Penang,” he said.
