IN the pursuit of the nation’s progress, welfare, and well-being, Malaysians come together, setting aside their differences, and embracing the essence of unity.

This year holds a special significance as it marks the first time Malaysians celebrate the National Month launch and the raising of the Jalur Gemilang under the banner of the unity government and Malaysia Madani.

Caretaker Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said it is the state’s sincere hope that the celebration would serve as a catalyst to restore the people’s confidence and faith in Malaysia after facing several years of challenges, be it in politics or the economy.

“Over the past few years, our country has experienced its fair share of instability, testing the resilience of the people and the nation as a whole.

“We look forward to a brighter future, united as one, as we enter the phase of recovery,” he told a media conference after launching the state-level National Month launch and the raising of the Jalur Gemilang at the Esplanade today.

Earlier in his speech, Chow expressed his appreciation to the state and Federal departments and agencies for making the celebration a success.

“This celebration holds great importance in conveying a clear message to ignite patriotism among the rakyat.

“We believe that unity in diversity, which is the aspiration of the chosen theme, will drive our determination and commitment to develop our state and country with love.

“Take pride in our Jalur Gemilang wherever we may be, embrace the Madani spirit, and love our state and country,” Chow said.
