“For applicants who face difficulties registering online, they may walk in or contact the MBPP Licensing Department at 04-263 8818 ext 218/215/219 for assistance,” she said during a press conference at the MBPP Licensing Department in Union Street yesterday (March 6).

“Applicants who fail to register within the application period will not be eligible to attend the interview session,” she added.

Also present at the press conference were MBPP councillors Koay Gaik Kee and Ooi Mei Mei.

Tan advised applicants to ensure they have a stable internet connection during the interview session, remain in a quiet location free from distractions, dress neatly and appropriately, and be punctual on the day of the interview.

“For this round, a total of 33 locations are open for application, offering 136 vacant stalls,” she said.

Tan also shared that throughout 2025, the council received 562 applications, of which 109 applicants were successfully allocated stalls.

She added that the city council is also focusing on relocating existing roadside hawkers into MBPP-managed stalls.

“This is an ongoing effort that is being actively implemented. Therefore, existing roadside hawkers are encouraged to submit their applications,” Tan said.
