THE Penang Island City Council (MBPP) will be holding an open interview on April 27 for those who want to rent vacant stalls at the Batu Feringghi public market and food complex.

MBPP Licensing and Public Health Committee alternate chairman Nicholas Theng Jie Wey said that only online registration is allowed, which is from April 24 to 26.

“While we only allow online registration for now due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we still accept walk-in for those aged and without access to internet services.

“They can do so on the same dates as the online registration (April 24 to 26),” Theng told a press conference at the City Hall in Esplanade today.

He also said the interview would be held at Kompleks Pasar, Jalan Sungai 1 (Batu Feringghi public market and food complex).

“For this session, a total of 28 vacant stalls to sell market items will be made available and 16 stalls to sell food.

“Due to our efforts to curb further spread of the infections, the applicants will be interviewed batch by batch with all the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place.

“To all the applicants, once you have registered, please be on the look out for a text message that you will notify you on your interview slot,” he added.

For any registration assistance, applicants can walk in to enquire from the Licensing Office or call 04-2638818, ext 307/08/09/10.
