THE upcoming charity musical concert “A Symphony of Little Voices” aims to raise RM100,000 for the Malaysian Children’s Hospice (MCH) Penang while increasing public awareness on paediatric palliative care, says state Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi.
Gooi said the concert, which will be held on June 14 from 4pm to 6pm at Dewan Sri Pinang, is more than just a fundraising effort as it also seeks to highlight the importance of hospice care for children with life-limiting illnesses.
“Hospice care is not only about medical treatment. It is also about dignity, compassion and ensuring a better quality of life for children and their loved ones during challenging times,” he said during a press conference at Komtar today.
He added that the initiative would help more people understand the role played by MCH Penang in supporting affected children and their families.
Gooi said the concert would feature performances by talented children, including children with special needs from Penang Island, Butterworth and Nibong Tebal.
“The performances will include piano, violin and guitar solos, percussion performances, dancing and choir presentations.
“For many of these children, performing at Dewan Sri Pinang is a dream come true. Beyond showcasing talent, this event also celebrates courage, determination and the unique abilities that every child possesses,” he said.
He added that special performances would also be presented by Ku Boleh Ku Gemilang, LEADERlandand The Hidden Voice Academy, alongside sharing sessions by families involved in paediatric palliative care.
Gooi also expressed appreciation to sponsors, volunteers and supporting organisations for helping make the programme possible.
“Such initiatives demonstrate how strong partnerships between healthcare institutions, educational organisations, community groups and volunteers can create meaningful impact for society,” he said.
He also thanked Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ramli Ngah Talib’s consort Toh Puan Raja Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah, for her support towards the initiative.
Separately, MCH Penang president Dr Teoh Yen Lin said the charity concert forms part of ongoing efforts by the hospice to sustain and expand its paediatric palliative care services in Penang.
She said Malaysian Association of Paediatric Palliative Care (MAPPAC), established in 2018, currently operates five hospices nationwide in Kuala Lumpur, Klang, Sibu, Kota Kinabalu and Penang.
“MCH Penang officially launched its home care programme in October 2025 and we are currently supporting 20 patients with approximately 20 home visits every month.

“Besides medical support, we also provide specialised play therapy, medical equipment loans, respite care and bereavement support for families,” she said.
Dr Teoh said this year’s concert involves seven collaborating organisations, namely MusPlay Music Education & Therapy Centre, LEADERland LEADERSHIP Preschool, Ku Boleh Ku Gemilang Group, Dual Blessing Berhad, Woodpecker Training Centre, Studio Pentas and The Hidden Vocal Academy.
“The concert will feature about 30 performances involving between 70 and 80 children and adolescents, including children with special needs, showcasing their talents while raising awareness and support for paediatric hospice care,” she said.
Dr Teoh said the fundraising campaign has achieved RM30,000 so far and organisers hope to raise the remaining RM70,000 during the charity concert.
She added that concert tickets are priced at RM60 for standard seats, RM120 for gold seats and RM200 for platinum seats.
According to her, all 902 seats available at Dewan Sri Pinang have already been sold out.
