MICCI shares Christmas joy with the needy community

SIXTY needy families today received food baskets as a token of love from the Malaysian Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) Penang.

 

Its president Datuk N. Gobalakrishnan said each family received RM130 worth of food basket as well as RM30 of angpow packet.

“MICCI wants to bring cheer to these families during this Christmas season so that they can have a livelier celebration with their loved ones.

 

“Although this is a small gesture from us, we believe that it is very much needed by them especially during this challenging time.

 

“I would like to thank Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow for the continuous support towards our organisation.

 

“This year, we received nearly RM50,000 for our various projects. We want to thank him for his kindness and generosity,” Gobalakrishnan said during his speech at the food basket handover ceremony.

Gobalakrishnan said that MICCI would continue to play its role for the well-being of the Indian community.

 

“If there is any help needed, please approach us as we would like render our help in whatever ways that we could,” he added.

 

Chow, who was the chief guest at the event, praised MICCI for engaging in various charity activities.

 

“Thank you for responding to the needs of the community especially during this difficult time.

 

“We hope that the good work done by MICCI will continue.

 

“It is during times like this that we get to witness the strength of the community.

 

“Apart from that, I would like to thank the non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for coming together in combating the Covid-19 crisis, as well as providing various assistance to the community.

 

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a blessed and joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year,” Chow said before presenting the food baskets and angpow to the recipients.
