THE restoration of the Penang State Museum is back on track following a slight delay in its progress due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Penang Tourism and Creative Economy Commitee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the restoration of the museum in Farquhar Street was not an easy task.

“We are happy that the work is now on track and is scheduled to complete next year.

“We hope that the museum, once it’s restored, will provide an exciting experience for its visitors,” he said after attending a short briefing at the museum today.

“Roofing work is currently ongoing here and the work is also scheduled to complete next year.

“Both projects (in Farquhar Street and in Macalister Road) are undertaken by the Public Works Department (JKR),” he said.

Yeoh said the restoration work was an effort by the Penang government to revive the Penang State Museum.

“The Penang State Museum is an asset and a significant identity of the state.

“The museum can also spur the state’s tourism economy. Visitors can learn more about our history when these projects are completed.
