THE national Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership will decide on a suitable date to call for the Penang state election.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who is also the state PH chairman, said previously, there was an informal discussion to hold the three state elections for the three PH-led states (Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan) around May or June next year.

“During the informal discussion, we considered the festive season and were looking at serving until the end of the tenure.

“However, it is entirely up to the national-level PH leadership to decide on the appropriate period to call for the three state elections,” Chow told reporters when asked about the matter during the Mattel (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd 40th anniversary celebration in Perai today.

When asked whether PH will work with Barisan Nasional (BN) as a political pact in the upcoming state election, Chow replied that it has not been decided yet.

On another question regarding the proposals by several Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders to call for early state elections for the three states under its administration namely Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah, Chow said that it is their right to do so and it would not affect the states under the PH administration.
