THE construction works for the new office of Ampang Jajar MPKK (Village Community Management Council) is expected to be completed this Monday (Dec 13).

The new office is located at Lorong Lintang Kerapu, Taman Kerapu in Butterworth.

Ampang Jajar MPKK chairman V. Krishna Murthy Naidu Vartharaju said the project started in November this year and currently the construction works of the new office are almost finished.

Krishna thank YB Soon for his valuable contribution.

“The contractor just has to instal a roof and also a gate. After that, the works are completed.

“All of this would not be possible without the financial assistance from Bagan Jermal assemblyman YB Soon Lip Chee.

“He contributed RM20,000 to build this new office. And we are truly grateful for that.

“We do not have any office since this MPKK was established in 2018. So, we have to use YB Soon service centre to operate instead.

“When the new office is operational soon, we will be able to continue our efforts in assisting the Ampang Jajar community, especially during the Covid-19 crisis,” Krishna said during a press conference at Taman Kerapu today.

Also present was Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) councillor Ng Yee Siang.

Ng said the city council also would instal street lamps along the road near to the Ampang Jajar MPKK new office to ensure better visibility at night for safety purposes.

Regarding the claim by certain Taman Kerapu residents that the current location of the new office is actually a parking area, Krishna denied all of that.

“This location is never a parking area. As a matter of fact, the land is owned by the state government.

“So, to those residents who frequently park their vehicles here, they are the ones who are actually breaking the law by illegally parking their vehicles.

“Taman Kerapu also is a landed housing area and not a condominium or an apartment where the parking spaces are limited. So, their complaints are irrelevant.

“At the same time, we have already obtained all the necessary approvals, including from MBSP and Land and District Office in north Seberang Perai, before the project started. Hence, the issue should not arise at all,” he explained.
