MORE than 50 varieties of food and refreshments – all vegetarian are expected to be featured at the upcoming International Meatless Day Carnival 2018 on December 2, from 10am to 2pm at Jalan Padang Kota Lama (Esplanade).

“This project is in line with the Penang state’s focus to explore and foray rising new food industries to contribute an additional avenue for long-term economic growth.

“It is organised by the Malaysian Meatless Day Campaign Committee and is supported by the Penang State Government.

“There is a tremendous variety of vegetarian offerings in Penang – whether Indian, Nyonya, Western or Chinese.

This is a fact we need to make known to our tourists, both local and foreign,” says chairman of the Malaysian Meatless Day Campaign Committee, Pishu Murli Hassaram at a press conference on Nov 19, officiated by exco for Welfare, Caring Society and Environment, Phee Boon Poh.

Pishu said this year’s carnival will also raise fund for two charities- Penang Community Care and Sadhu Vaswani Welfare Fund.

Meanwhile, Phee encourage the public to go green in conjunction with World Meatless Day which falls on November 25.
