PARCEL owners in Penang have until Dec 31 this year to pay up their parcel rent without being imposed any late charges.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the parcel rent bill for this year would be sent out in stages to the management corporations (MCs) or joint management bodies (JMBs) of strata-titled properties from July onwards.

“A total of 224,303 parcel owners involving 1,796 stratified housing schemes are expected to receive their parcel rent bills this year via their MCs or JMBs.

“The parcel rent bills for the year 2020 will be distributed to the respective parcel owners in January next year through mail,” he told a press conference at his office in Komtar today.

The Penang Lands and Mines Office has adopted the parcel rent billing for strata-titled properties to replace the quit rent or land tax from Jan 1, 2019, through the Federal Gazette P.U (B) 714, dated Dec 21, last year.

Chow urged the parcel owners to update their particulars, such as name, mailing address and others, through the Borang NA(2) which could be obtained from the District and Land Offices in Penang.

“They can also update their details via online at http://etanah.penang.gov.my/landing/.

“Parcel owners can visit their respective District and Land Offices in Penang from the third week of July onwards, to print out and pay their parcel rent bills,” he said.

Chow added that beginning January next year, parcel owners can pay up their parcel rent bills at all District and Land Offices in Penang, and via https://ebayar.penang.gov.my/.

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Seri Farizan Darus, state Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo and Penang Lands and Mines director Akmar Omar.
