THE Anderes Fourdy Events (AFE), a top-ranked Professional Congress Organiser (PCO) in the country, has expanded its operation to Penang by teaming up with the Dreamz Production Events Management Sdn Bhd, a Penang-based event management company.

Their partnership was secured via a signing ceremony between Anderes Fourdy Events project director Catherine Khor and Dreamz Production Events Management Sdn Bhd founder and director Cheah WY at the Cheong Fatt Tze-The Blue Mansion yesterday.

The collaboration has led to the launching of Anderes Fourdy Events (Penang).

Cheah said their upcoming project together would be the Asia Pacific Hernia Society 2023 which will be held in Penang.

“According to the research conducted by the AFE, there are currently 59 potential bids for congresses to be held in Penang, which is between year 2023 to 2032.

“With the reopening of borders recently, we expect this figure to double next year. And I believe we can at least win 10 percent of these international congress bids.

“So, with the opening of AFE Penang, Catherine, myself and the team will stay committed to winning the bids for the state.

“We would like to work closely with the state government as well as with the local universities, Penang-based associations, hotels and most importantly our local vendors,” he added.

Meanwhile, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi, who witnessed the signing ceremony, hoped the strategic initiative, will have a positive impact on the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) industry in Penang.

“Penang has a lot to offer, namely its world-renowned street food, diverse culture, and the latest accolade which is the Unesco listing for Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve.

“I believe all these factors will contribute to the recovery of the MICE sector in Penang just like how it (Penang) was a premier MICE destination prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“With the collaboration, I look forward to all the international events that will take place in Penang,” he said.
