THE Penang DAP is geared up to face the upcoming general election as a meeting will take place to finalise the parliamentary seat arrangement in the state.

State DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow said another meeting would be held to formalise the seat allocation before submitting the name list to the party’s central executive committee (CEC).

“It is a fact that we have to face the national polls and we are now in the process of fine-tuning and putting in our final touches in terms of seat allocation.

“We have completed the process of interviewing the potential candidates, incumbent MPs and state assemblymen. We will have another round of meeting to finalise all the details before submitting the names to the CEC by next week for the five-member panel of the CEC to decide.

“Preparations for the polls are ongoing,” he told reporters after attending a book launching event at Berjaya Hotel in Burmah Road this morning.

Chow was commenting after he was approached by a reporter on the party’s preparations for the 15th General Election.

The Penang Chief Minister pointed out that no party could claim to be fully prepared for the polls as of now.

“We need to respond to changes and get all the publicity materials ready.

“At the party’s national level, the design for election posters and manifesto are currently being finalised before being announced,” he said.

Chow added that Pakatan Harapan (PH) convention will take place in Ipoh, Perak on Oct 20, which is when the Election Commission (EC) is scheduled to announce the nomination and polling dates.

“Various announcements will be made on that night,” he said

When asked by a reporter about the four Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) seats in Penang, Chow said a meeting would be held to discuss further.

“We will look at how the four seats can be redesignated to other component parties,“ he said.

The seats are Bertam, Sungai Acheh, Seberang Jaya and Teluk Bahang.

Chow added that an announcement would be made by the PH leadership on the possible collaboration between the PH coalition, Parti Socialis Malaysia (PSM) and Muda.
