THE upcoming Penang Education Expo, to be held on March 23 and 24, will be featuring Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses for the very first time.

Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy said students who are interested in technical and vocational programmes could grab this opportunity to sign up for the courses.

“We invite school-leavers to check out the TVET courses offered by some institutions. Technical and vocational skills are important for the state to meet industrial needs and the challenges of Industry 4.0.

“This is the perfect time to explore the available courses and look at the potential careers ahead of time.

“More than 30 tertiary education institutes (leading colleges and universities) will be taking part in the expo.

“School-leavers can get reliable answers to their questions at the expo,” Dr Ramasamy told a press conference in Komtar today.

Also present were SME Association of Seberang Perai chairman Francis Wong and its treasurer Leong Yook Kheong, SLC Auto Academy training consultant CY Lim, and Mydin Mall (northern region) general manager Azmin Saduruddin.

The expo, organised by the office of Penang Deputy Chief Minister II in collaboration with SME Association of Seberang Perai, will be held from 11am to 6pm at Mydin Bukit Mertajam in Seberang Perai.

The education expo was first held in 2017.
