THE Penang government is considering introducing a special incentive scheme to reward individuals under the age of 15 who excel in academics or co-curricular activities on the national or international arena.

State Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen said the objective is to award and recognise these outstanding youths who have made the state proud at a very young age.

Gooi said the objective is to award and recognise these outstanding youths who have made the state proud at a very young age.

He said the proposed scheme shares similarities with the ‘Best! Anak Penang – Penang Young Talent Excellence Incentive Scheme,’ with the only difference being the age group.

Best! Anak Penang caters to youth aged 15 to 30, while the new scheme is intended for those under 15 years old.

“We will discuss with related state departments or agencies to explore the feasibility of implementing this scheme with guidelines akin to Best! Anak Penang.

“After all, it is one of the state government’s initiatives to show support and appreciation to Penang’s youth talent pool.

“We want them to know that the state government values their wonderful achievements at such a young age.

“We hope that the incentive scheme can encourage them to maintain their momentum of success,” Gooi told a press conference during his visit to the private music school Jammin’ Senzation in Jelutong recently.

Also present were Sungai Puyu assemblyman Phee Syn Tze, Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling and Jammin’ Senzation managing director Jasmin Khor.

Gooi was there to celebrate the wonderful achievements of the young talents from the Jammin’ Senzation, who have showcased their exceptional skills and abilities on the international stage.

He said this remarkable feat reflects not only their dedication but also the unwavering support they have received from their families, mentors, and the community.

He added that to nurture a future generation, parents also play a crucial role with their valuable support so that their children can achieve outstanding achievements.

Gooi said the Penang government is also always supportive of all these young children through various initiatives.
