THE Penang government is preparing for any possibility resulting from the change of Federal Government.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the Penang government was ready to face the reality of political change.

“We do not expect to get special treatment, but we expect to be treated fairly; considering the roles and contributions of the state towards the economy and development of Malaysia.

“We hope that whatever they do at the Federal level, do not make the people suffer because of this political change. The people and Penang deserve better,” Chow told a press conference at his office in Komtar today.

Chow said that the Penang executive council had voiced its concerns over the change of Federal Government.

“The Pakatan Harapan Federal Government collapsed following the actions of some politicians who went against the people’s mandate.

“The Penang government is ready to face this political situation. With the change of Federal Government, we are back to the time before the 2018 General Election.

“The Penang government and the Federal Government were not aligned from 2008 to 2018.

“We have strived for our state and the people during that period. Things changed for the better after the 2018 General Election when we were aligned with the Federal Government.

“Now, we have to be prepared for any possibility,” he said, adding that the state government would cautiously observe the situation.
