THE Penang government is striving to provide the 5G technology to the people as digitalisation is now the economic propeller of the state.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow emphasised the importance of 5G technology which is deemed essential to the people’s daily lives.

“The state, through the relevant authorities, is discussing with Digital National Berhad (DNB) to realise the initiative.

“This would also provide an opportunity for PDC Telecommunication Services Sdn Bhd, or better known as PDC Telco, to undertake such initiative, given its expertise in this aspect.

“The telecommunication facility will lift the state to greater heights in this digitalisation era.

“Digitalisation has become an important element in our daily lives as most people have already adapted to it.

“Telecommunication service is not only meant for the high-income group. The service is needed by everyone.

“I hope that the people can give their support to PDC Telco and other relevant agencies to realise the initiative,” said Chow, who is also the PDC Telco chairman, in his speech during the appreciation dinner at The Wembley Hotel in George Town on Feb 23.

Chow also expressed his gratitude to those present.
