“In 2019, we established the hockey team, and thanks to the generous support of several companies, we were able to purchase the sports equipment needed for hockey.

“Recognising the potential among our students, we aim to elevate hockey development within the school,” Prabakaran shared during the interview at the school.

Gurmit aims to challenge the notion that only a few schools in Penang excel in hockey and believes players from schools like SK St Mark can redefine this narrative.

Established in 1936 as St Anne School, SK St Mark has undergone significant reconstruction and upgrading works from 2008 to 2021, enhancing key areas such as the open hall, school field, canteen, and main stage.

The school, currently hosting 189 students, anticipates 23 more enrollments in 2024.

Penang Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu and Senator Dr R. A. Lingeshwaran are expected to officiate the opening and closing of the tournament this Saturday.
