PWMPP president Madam Tan Lean Kee, who is also the wife of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, said she was happy to be able to share the festive joy with the residents of Pusat Jagaan Rumah Sejahtera.

“While the Chinese New Year is a time to get together with families, relatives and friends to share joy and laughter, old folks should not be forgotten as well.

“Although today is the 14th day of the Chinese New Year celebration, I am happy that we can still put a smile on their faces.

“I also would like to thank the management of this old folk home, namely Majlis Pusat Kebajikan Semalaysia (MPKSM) (Penang branch) for allowing our association to celebrate this special celebration with them.

“And I hope all of you will enjoy this simple celebration today,” Tan said in her speech during the programme today.

Also present were Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling and MPKSM Penang branch chairman Datuk Tan Yong Seng.

Tan also commended the MPKSM Penang branch for managing the old folks home here.

“Congrats to the management for the good works they are doing by providing a shelter and a sanctuary for the old folks here, so that they can spend their remaining years in peace and meaningfully.

“I also would like to thank all the donors for their continuous contributions all these years to these old folks home to ensure they can continue to operate,” she added.

Meanwhile, Yong Seng thanked Tan and PWMPP for their time and support of the old folks home.

“I also hope that the state government and Federal Government will continue to assist the old folks’ homes like ours in the state so that we can continue to serve the elderly,” he said.

At the end of the programme, on behalf of the PWMPP, Tan also presented a cash contribution of RM2,000 to the Pusat Jagaan Rumah Sejahtera.
