Six states to discuss simultaneous state polls

SELANGOR Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari is initiating a joint meeting with five other states to discuss the possibility of simultaneous state polls.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the meeting is scheduled to be held next week.

“The meeting is being initiated by the Selangor MB. Perhaps a consensus can be reached regarding when the respective state assemblies can be dissolved to pave the way for the state elections.”

The Pakatan Harapan-led Penang, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan; and the PAS-led Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah did not hold their state elections together with the 15th General Election (GE15) last November and will have to hold their polls this year.

“The window is getting narrower, hence, without doing all these, it (the Penang state election) will still happen in either June or July this year,” he replied to a journalist after launching the ARmenian Park project in Armenian Park today. The ARmenian Park project is an Augmented Reality interactive outdoor installation project within Armenian Park.
