THE Batu Kawan parliamentary service centre is launching a series of entrepreneurship workshops aimed at empowering the B40 and M40 communities in the constituency.

These workshops have been designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to kickstart their own businesses and generate income.

The service centre director Ewe Chee Way said the initiative, endorsed by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, represents a proactive effort to support individuals from the B40 and M40 demographics, including youth and single mothers.

“The goal is to enable them to establish small businesses independently, with the added benefit of a free starter kit tailored to the chosen course.

“The four available courses encompass barista training, retort technology, photography, and an entrepreneurship telecommunications program offered in partnership with redONE,” he told a press conference at the Batu Kawan parliamentary service centre today.

The schedule for these workshops is as follows: the barista course will take place on Nov 25, the retort technology course on Dec 10, and the photography course on Dec 16. All sessions will run from 9am to 4pm at the Batu Kawan parliamentary service centre.

Ewe emphasised that these workshops offer limited spots, encouraging eligible constituents to apply promptly.

“Experienced facilitators from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions will oversee all sessions,” he said.

Participants can expect additional benefits based on their selected course.

For the barista course, Ewe mentioned that the attendees would receive a free mini-barista machine and grinder.

“The retort technology course includes a retort machine, and the photography course provides a digital camera, tripod, and lightbox.

“In all sessions, complimentary meals will be served,” Ewe added.

He said that the entrepreneurship telecommunications programme, a collaboration with redONE, would provide separate training and starter kits, with the interested participants being contacted by redONE directly.

“To register for these valuable workshops, please use the QR code provided. Do not miss out on this opportunity to acquire essential entrepreneurial skills and boost your income potential,” he added.

Also present was Chow’s political secretary Lau Keng Ee.
