PENANG is on the right track to achieve its herd immunity, according to state Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo.

The state executive councillor said the state was doing well now in terms of the Covid-19 vaccination process.

“So far, there are a total of seven vaccination centres (PPVs) in the state, including the mega PPVs at SPICE Arena in Bayan Lepas and SP Arena in Seberang Jaya.

“Also, there are at least six public hospitals in the state that are assisting us in administering vaccines.

“On top of that, more than 200 private clinics are ready to help us in this vaccination effort under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP).

“As of yesterday, the health authorities had given green light to 19 private clinics to assist us.

“All these facilities will help accelerate Penang’s goal to reach its herd immunity target soon,” he told reporters after inspecting the Penang pesta site PPV centre in Sungai Nibong today.

Jagdeep also urged Penangites to register for the vaccination via MySejahtera app.

“Please continue to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) at all times,” he stressed.

Also present was Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang.
