THE Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia in Penang is confident that the Field ICU in Kepala Batas Hospital will provide the best treatment to its patients when it starts operating.

Its commissioner Khoo Boo Leong said the international humanitarian organisation would continue to support the frontliners in their fight against Covid-19.

“We express our gratitude to the Health Ministry and the Malaysian Armed Forces for establishing the Field ICU here.

“The Field ICU will be able to help more patients, especially those who need critical care.

“We are committed to help our frontliners,” he said after presenting 5,000 face masks to aid the frontliners at the Field ICU in Kepala Batas Hospital today.

The supply of face masks was in addition to the 3,000 isolation gowns donated by the organisation yesterday (May 20).

It was reported that Penang was in dire need of a Field ICU, after ICU bed occupancy in hospitals reached 100% on May 11.
