THE Malaysia Progressive Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce (MPE) and JCI Penang recently hosted the meaningful “SME Financing & Capital Raising Insights 2026” seminar, held against a backdrop of global economic uncertainty.

The event successfully brought together government representatives, regulatory bodies, and the business community to discuss practical solutions to help SMEs navigate current economic challenges.

State executive councillor for Trade and National Unity, Goh Choon Aik, who officiated the seminar as the guest of honour, emphasised the importance of close collaboration between the government and the business sector in creating new opportunities amid economic challenges.

“The state government has established a committee to accelerate policy implementation and align resources, supporting sustainable business growth in a complex and ever-changing economic landscape while strengthening the resilience of the state’s business ecosystem,” he said.

She expressed appreciation to the federal government for implementing an RM100 million financing initiative, describing it as a “breath of fresh air” for businesses, while also commending the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) for introducing the “Interest Scheme,” which provides companies with a more flexible approach to fundraising.

“Seminars like this not only serve as a platform for dialogue between the government and the business community but also provide practical information and resources to help enterprises strengthen risk management and ensure more stable growth,” she added.

Organising chairman Lim Lip Sing thanked all parties and guests for their support in making the seminar a success and expressed hope that participants would gain valuable insights and explore new business collaboration opportunities.

MPE national chairman William Khoo noted that MPE, as a key platform connecting progressive entrepreneurs and professionals nationwide, is committed to strengthening business networks, facilitating resource alignment, and helping SMEs achieve sustainable growth in an ever-changing economic environment.

He added that a seminar combining government policy insights with practical financing solutions is highly relevant to the needs of today’s enterprises, helping them enhance competitiveness and adaptability.
