AN unexpected obstruction during overnight cable-pulling works caused traffic congestion along Jalan Sungai Pinang yesterday morning, according to SRS Consortium.

In a statement today, SRS said the delay affected road users travelling from the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway towards Jalan Jelutong after the reopening of two left lanes was delayed.

The consortium said site teams had to clear the obstruction before traffic management controls could be removed to ensure the safety of workers and the public.

“The issue was resolved and both lanes were fully reopened to traffic at 7.30am,” it said.

SRS apologised to commuters and members of the public who were affected by the disruption and acknowledged the frustration caused during the morning peak period.

The consortium added that its technical team is reviewing the cause of the obstruction and refining site operational workflows to reduce the risk of similar incidents occurring in the future.

It also expressed appreciation for feedback received from the community and local representatives, while thanking the public for their patience and understanding.

The traffic disruption drew complaints from motorists during the morning rush hour, with congestion reported along the affected stretch of road.
