COOPERATION among parties within the unity government is crucial to ensuring stability and maintaining public confidence, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

He noted that collaboration between Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties, Barisan Nasional (BN) and other partners has enabled the state administration to function effectively and deliver on its promises.

“Through cooperation with our partners, we offer a stable, sincere and capable administration that earns the trust of the people,” he said at the state DAP Hari Raya open house in Tanjong Tokong.

Chow stressed that public trust would ultimately determine the government’s future.

“If the people are not confident in what we can deliver, then support will not be there. That is why we must continue to work hard and meet their expectations,” he added.

He said engagement programmes such as festive open houses provide an important platform for leaders to connect with the rakyat.

“These interactions allow us to hear feedback, understand concerns and share what the government is doing,” he said.

Despite global uncertainties, including geopolitical tensions, Chow noted that Penang continues to record strong investments, particularly in the semiconductor sector.

“Penang remains a key player in the global semiconductor supply chain, and we continue to see encouraging investment inflows,” he said.

State DAP chairman Steven Sim Chee Keong, who was present, acknowledged that small traders are facing challenges amid a slower global economy.

“To support them, the government has rolled out targeted financing schemes during the Ramadan and Chinese New Year festive seasons,” he said.

Sim reaffirmed the government’s commitment to assisting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), while also stressing unity and inclusivity across all communities in Penang.

Guests were treated to cultural performances and a variety of festive delicacies, while duit raya was also distributed to children attending the open house.

Among those present were Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, state DAP deputy chairman Ramkarpal Singh, state DAP vice-chairmen Datuk Yeoh Soon Hin and Zairil Khir Johari, secretary Lim Hui Ying, and Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abd Rashid.
