Schoool uniform vouchers for needy students

IN a move to help the less fortunate, the service centre of Batu Lancang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong and four JKKKs in the vicinity organised a presentation ceremony of vouchers for school uniforms to 151 students recently.

The four JKKKs were represented by Shirlynn Tan (JKKK Jalan Perak chairman), Lee Kean Loon (JKKK Taman Ghee Hiang chairman), Khoo Boo Thong (JKKK Taman Hijau chairman) and Leow Yew Leng (JKKK Taman Ara chairman).

This was the first time Ong’s service centre was involved in the contribution of vouchers to help the poor families or single parents whose children are in need of school uniforms.

“School uniform is a basic need and we hope that our effort will help ease the burden of the parents,” said Ong, who presented vouchers to the pupils at the Dewan JKKK Jalan Perak on Nov 16. The vouchers and other expenses totalled RM15,000.

Ong said many other constituencies also organised similar programme for the benefits of the poor.

Jelutong Member of Parliament, R.S.N. Rayer said he would contribute 200 sets of school uniforms to needy pupils or students studying in the Batu Lancang area. Those interested can register with his service centre or the Batu Lancang service centre.
