AIR Putih assemblyman Lim Guan Eng today announced the installation of water tanks at three strategic locations within his constituency in preparation for the upcoming scheduled water disruptions from January 10 to 14.

The three locations are MPKK Bukit Bendera hall, MPKK Taman Reservoir, and MPKK Kampung Baru hall.

Even though Air Putih constituency and Air Itam constituency remain the few spots on Penang island unaffected by the impending water disruptions, Lim said this installation serves as a contingency plan.

“We want to be ready; therefore, if unexpected disruptions occur, Air Putih residents will have a water supply.

“Residents beyond Air Putih are also welcome to fill up their water supplies during the scheduled water disruptions. It is not limited to Air Putih residences because, at the end of the day, we are all Penangites,” Lim said when asked about the affected residences beyond his constituency at MPKK Bukit Bendera Hall.

Meanwhile, a free influenza vaccination and medical health checkup drive will take place on Jan 20 from 8am to 1pm at MPKK Bukit Bendera Hall, Hill Railway Road.

During a press conference at the Air Putih service centre today, Lim said that the programme was necessary due to an upsurge in influenza cases in his constituency.

“Cases of influenza among the Air Putih folk have risen. In the past, I, too, fell victim to influenza, and it was no joke that the symptoms of influenza outweighed the effects of Covid-19,” Lim recalled.

“At the same time, we will also be providing free medical health checkups for residents during the vaccination drive. Residents can get their latest health status as well as medical advice from medical experts stationed at the hall.”

This drive is a collaboration between Bersatu Clinic, George Town, Big Pharmacy, Penang’s Bahagia Welfare Association, and the Air Putih service centre, to prevent the widespread spread of influenza cases as well as ensure the health of residents in the area remains at its best.

Hence, Lim urged Air Putih residents, especially those who have not taken their Influenza shot or medical checkup, to take part in this drive.

“At the moment, 100 influenza vaccines and 150 spots for medical checkups are available. Therefore, to those who are interested, quickly register as slots are limited!”

Additionally, Lim handed out RM6,500 from allocated funds to representatives of Thai Seong Loh Koon and the Lean Cheng Keong at his service centre.

Present were Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillor Koay Gaik Kee, Air Putih special assistant Hong Kian Beng, MPKK Taman Reservior chairman Khaw Sim Choi, and representatives from Thai Seong Loh Koon, Lean Cheng Keong, Bersatu Clinic, George Town, Big Pharmacy, and Penang’s Bahagia Welfare Association.
