Yayasan Petronas’ BTS 2022 reaches out to needy pupils, students

A TOTAL of 1,100 underprivileged students and pupils in Penang will be receiving new sets of school supplies and personal hygiene kits under the Yayasan Petronas ‘Back To School 2022’ (BTS 2022) programme.

 

Petronas government and regulator advisory head Anuar Ismail said the foundation had engaged the Penang Education Department to identify the students and pupils who would be benefitting from the programme.

“We will be sending the sets of school supplies and personal hygiene kits to the respective schools for them to be distributed. A total of 650 primary school pupils and 450 secondary school students have been identified.

 

“The BTS 2022 programme has expanded this year, reaching out to more underprivileged pupils and students,” he told Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow at his office in Komtar today. He said that the foundation had doubled its contribution to needy students and pupils in Penang this year.

According to the media release, the BTS programme is part of Yayasan Petronas’ education focus area. It is also in line with the Petronas Sustainability Agenda and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Chow recorded his utmost appreciation to Yayasan Petronas for its contribution to the needy children.

 

Chow thanked Yayasan Petronas for reaching out to needy children.

 

“We understand that the BTS 2022 programme was launched on March 14 and was aimed at helping students and pupils from low-income households in Malaysia in preparation for the 2022 academic year.

 

“The contribution by the foundation will bring a good impact to the community,” Chow said.

 

It is understood that each student would receive a set of school uniforms; a pair of school shoes; a set of sports attire; a classroom kit comprising a school bag, stationery, water bottle, and a lunch box; and a personal hygiene kit. Each set of school supplies and personal hygiene kit is worth about RM270.

Also present at the meeting were Petronas northern and central region head Zukifli Othman, Petronas northern and central region manager Hazly Azrin Hamzah, Petronas Group strategic communications manager Mohd Faiz Zaidani Fazilah, and state Education Department representative Suhaizi Semail.
