THE construction of a stone wall at a beach in the Seberang Perai rest area is underway and is expected to be completed on Nov 13 this year.
Undertaken by a local construction company, Tasek Ceria Enterprise, the project, which took off on Aug 21 this year, is aimed at preventing dangers to the people, as well as reducing the risk of damage to the edge of the beach and its surroundings.
Seberang Perai Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) engineer Mohd Shahman Shaari explained the goal and objectives of the project on Sept 15.
“The goal of this project is to construct a 160m-long and 18m-wide stone wall to reduce the risk of damage to the beach edge and safeguard the area,” he said.
Additionally, Shahman said they are doing as much as they can to ensure the safety of beach users and nearby residents.
“We also want to improve the safety and security of the users as well as the members of the public living in the surrounding area,” Shahman said.
Also present at the press conference held at the rest and relax area of Butterworth’s outer ring road (BORR) were Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng and Bagan Dalam assemblyman Kumaran Krishnan.
Funded at a cost of RM837,146, the project is currently 33% complete, with work progressing steadily towards its scheduled completion date.
