ATTRACTIVE prizes worth up to RM12,000 are up for grabs in the ‘Batu Maung Photography & Videography Competition 2020’!

Organised by the Batu Maung assemblyman’s service centre, the contest is open to all Malaysians and Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) residents of all ages.

Batu Maung assemblyman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain said the objective of the competition was to create awareness and to promote Batu Maung as an eco-tourism destination.

“Batu Maung is a place where nature meets technology. It was a fishing village and now became one of the most developed areas in Penang.

“The industrial zones are strategically located in Batu Maung.

“There are many hidden treasures in this humble township; such as the country’s one and only Penang War Museum, the Sam Poh Footprint Temple (Cheng Ho’s temple), the fishing villages and the traditional homes.

“There are also places for visitors to catch the beautiful sunset and sunrise.

“With these exciting places of interest, I hope many participants will join this competition,” he told a press conference in Komtar today.

Abdul Halim also hoped that the contest would spur domestic tourism in Penang, especially in Batu Maung.

He said the participants could only take photos or videos in any or all of the following 10 places in Batu Maung for the contest.

“They are the second Penang bridge coastal area, the coastal areas of Permatang Damar Laut and Permatang Tepi Laut, Taman Jajar Sungai Ara, Penang War Museum, Sam Poh Footprint Temple, The Loft, Old Teluk Tempoyak Jetty and Medan Ikan Bakar, Bukit Sungai Ara and the coastal area of Teluk Tempoyak (near quarry).

“The contest is open from Oct 15 to Nov 15.

“The competition is divided into four categories, namely, Photography, Videography, Drone and Social Media. The prizes for each category are different.

“Among the attractive prizes are Apple and Fitbit smartwatches, iPads, staycation packages at Eastin Hotel, and cash prizes.

“The results of the competition and the venue of the prize giving ceremony will be announced in December via email and the Batu Maung assemblyman’s service centre Facebook page,” said Abdul Halim, who is also the state Entrepreneurial Development, Trade and Industry Committee chairman.
