MINISTER of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Chang Lih Kang, officially launched the AI Scientist exhibition today at Tech Dome Penang, marking a major step forward in promoting interactive technology education in the country.
In his speech, Datuk Chang emphasised the pivotal role of Tech Dome Penang as a hub for learning and talent development in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). He highlighted that initiatives like AI Scientist are essential in nurturing a generation that is not only technologically literate but also capable of becoming future innovators and leaders.
“Understanding and mastering science and technology is no longer just an advantage; it is a necessity in a world increasingly driven by technology,” he said.
The AI Scientist exhibition builds on the AI Education Hub launched in 2024, reflecting Tech Dome’s continued commitment to advancing artificial intelligence education in Malaysia. The interactive exhibition allows visitors to engage with virtual AI scientists capable of answering questions based on the ideas of prominent figures such as Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein.

Chang said the exhibition is expected to benefit more than 100,000 visitors annually, making science and AI more accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for the public. He also acknowledged the contributions of iFlytek Co Ltd. and OGX Network Sdn Bhd, noting that public-private collaborations are crucial to developing a vibrant national innovation ecosystem.
“With support from various stakeholders, we can accelerate talent development in technology, particularly in artificial intelligence, which is a key driver of the global digital economy,” he said.
“In this effort, Tech Dome Penang plays an important role as an interactive science learning centre that is easily accessible to the public,” he said.
“The launch of AI Scientist today represents a step forward in introducing a more modern and interactive approach to learning. Visitors can engage directly with artificial intelligence technology, making science learning more engaging, easier to understand, and relevant to current developments. Initiatives like this are crucial in nurturing a future generation that not only understands technology but can also use it creatively and innovatively,” Jagdeep added.
Chang added that his ministry will continue supporting initiatives that strengthen STEM education and develop highly skilled human capital, inspiring young Malaysians to explore science and technology and become future innovators and leaders.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, Mosti secretary-general Datuk Dr Nagulendran, Mosti (Planning and Science Enculturation) deputy secretary-general Datuk Ruziah Shafei, Tech Dome Penang chief executive officer Khoo Boo Wooi, iFLYTEK Southeast Asia senior regional manager Dave Xiao, Penang STEM general manager Datuk Richard Chung Chok Yin and Tech Dome Penang senior marketing and communications manager Oun Sui Leng.

Jagdeep said the state government has always been committed to strengthening the STEM ecosystem, particularly among the younger generation.
