CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow has left it to DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke to announce an upcoming meeting involving the two leaders and former chief minister Lim Guan Eng.

“I am leaving it to Loke to announce,” he said briefly when asked by reporters after a hamper distribution ceremony for the underprivileged at the Sri Muniswarar Temple Perai today.

The meeting is understood to focus on Penang’s revised land taxation, including quit rent rates that took effect on Jan 1.

Chow had said he appreciated Loke’s initiative to convene the discussion and would abide by instructions to refrain from publicly commenting on the matter, so as to avoid negative perceptions affecting the state.

He added that the issue is not new, nothing he has consistently addressed it during his press conferences, and that detailed reports had already been prepared and explained previously.
