“This year also marks the 60th anniversary of DAP, and we are celebrating it together as a community. Most importantly, this is a run led by women.
“The theme, ‘Give to Gain’, reflects our commitment to supporting one another, creating opportunities, and growing together. This is how we truly empower women,” she said.
Teo emphasised that nation-building is a long-term commitment.

“Nation-building is not a sprint, but a marathon. While today’s event is not a marathon, it symbolises our collective commitment, especially DAP’s to building a better Malaysia. Each of us plays a role in that journey,” she said.
Sim congratulated Penang DAP Wanita for organising the successful event, describing the strong female participation as a powerful statement.

“With over 2,000 participants and more than 70% women, this is women’s power. This is the power of Penang!” he said.
He also outlined three key priorities for Penang DAP moving forward.
“First, we aim to sustain Penang’s growth under the leadership of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, positioning the state as Malaysia’s economic frontline.
“Second, we will continue to fiercely defend our multicultural and diverse society, a place where people of all races and religions can freely express themselves.
“Third, we strive to build a compassionate state. Women embody compassion, and today, in our purple shirts, we run not just for fitness, but to ensure continued progress for Penang and Malaysia while supporting one another,” he added.
Chow commended Penang DAP Wanita for successfully organising the meaningful event.

“This programme is highly significant as it is held in conjunction with International Women’s Day while also celebrating the 60th anniversary of DAP Malaysia.

“The participation of over 2,000 individuals reflects an encouraging response from all segments of society.
“It demonstrates that community-based initiatives like this can serve as effective platforms to unite people while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle,” he said.
Chow added that the ‘Give to Gain’ theme carries deep and meaningful values.
“It highlights that every contribution we make whether in time, energy or support yields meaningful returns for ourselves, our community and the nation.
“International Women’s Day is an important platform to recognise the roles and contributions of women across various fields, including leadership, the economy, education, entrepreneurship and social development,” he said.
He also reaffirmed the Penang government’s commitment to empowering women through various policies and initiatives under the Penang2030 vision, which emphasises inclusive, sustainable and holistic development.
