THE work-from-home (WFH) arrangements for the public sector could be brought up for discussion at the state executive council meeting next Wednesday if necessary.

“Not all roles are suitable for remote work, and the state government will need to carefully review which positions can adopt flexible arrangements without affecting service delivery,” Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said.

The private sector, Chow noted, will make its own considerations and decisions.

On the state’s preparedness amid the ongoing heatwave, Chow said the current focus remains on the state’s water supply, with special attention on Kedah, as Penang’s raw water source comes from Sungai Muda, where the catchment area is located upstream.

Chow added that developments in Kedah would affect the state, but assured that the overall situation remains under control.

“Our dam water levels are at a good level, and while Sungai Muda requires close monitoring, current river levels remain comfortable and have not fallen below the critical mark,” he said.
