PENANGITES from low-income households aged 40 and above are urged to take advantage of the PeKa B40 healthcare programme, with some 30,000 eligible individuals in the state yet to register.
PeKa B40 is a Federal Government initiative under the Ministry of Health aimed at addressing the healthcare needs of low-income Malaysians, particularly in the prevention and early detection of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
The programme is administered by ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of ProtectHealth Malaysia under the Ministry of Health.
Air Putih assemblyman Lim Guan Eng said the PeKa B40 programme was approved during his tenure as Finance Minister.
“Currently, the registration rate in Penang remains among the lowest compared with other states.
“Based on data from ProtectHealth Corporation, there are about 30,000 eligible individuals in Penang who have yet to register.
“Therefore, I urge all eligible Penangites to participate in the programme and make full use of the benefits available to them,” he said at a press conference in Air Putih today, held in conjunction with a free health screening programme under PeKa B40.
Lim said PeKa B40 is open to Malaysian citizens from the bottom 40% (B40) household income group.
He explained that recipients of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and their spouses aged 40 and above are automatically eligible for the programme.
“No special registration is required to join PeKa B40. Eligible individuals can undergo health screenings at any public clinic or private clinic registered under the PeKa B40 programme.
“Those who receive abnormal screening results will be provided with follow-up care based on their clinical needs,” he said.
Lim said the programme offers four main benefits namely health screening, medical equipment assistance, incentives for completing cancer treatment, and transportation incentives.
Eligible recipients can check their status through the MySejahtera application by selecting the Appointments section. They can also refer to the list of registered PeKa B40 clinics through the official PeKa B40 website.
Those who are eligible only need to bring their MyKad to any private clinic registered as a PeKa B40 clinic. These clinics can be identified by the PeKa B40 sticker displayed at the entrance.
