FORTY-TWO participants gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) use, and choke management at a Basic Life Support (BLS) workshop conducted by Island Hospital recently.

They were trained to respond effectively during critical moments, recognising that the first few minutes of an emergency can make all the difference.

The workshop followed a recent real-life incident in which timely CPR and AED intervention helped save a badminton player who collapsed during a game in Paya Terubong.

The player was subsequently transferred to Island Hospital, where he underwent a successful operation.

Recognising the importance of prompt action in emergencies, the hospital held the workshop to help the public acquire practical life-saving skills.
