A TOTAL of 18 government agencies are all geared up to participate in the ‘Karnival Kita Madani’ at Balai Rakyat MBPP Padang Tembak this Saturday (May 20).

The carnival, which will be held from 9am to 3pm, is organised by the Department of Information Malaysia in collaboration with the office of Kebun Bunga assemblyman Jason Ong and Kebun Bunga Penang Youth Committee (JBPP Kebun Bunga).

According to Ong, this carnival will be a great platform for government agencies to get closer to the community.

“Through this carnival, we are bringing government services to the public.

“Among the participating agencies are the police, where the public can make their discounted traffic summon payment of RM50 at the PDRM’s counter at the carnival as the last day for the offer is on May 21.

“Other agencies that will be present include National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN), Inland Revenue Board Of Malaysia (LHDN Malaysia), Penang Housing Board, Election Commission of Malaysia, EPF Malaysia, and many more,” Ong said at a press conference today.

Meanwhile, northeast district information officer Lim Miow Juang urged the public to take part in the upcoming carnival.

“It is not an easy task to bring all the government agencies under one roof, so we hope the community will seize the chance by attending the carnival.

“The visitors can also find out more about the ‘My Salam’ programme, which is initiated especially for the B40 group.

“We also have programmes for children, such as congkak, ‘batu seremban’, snake and ladder and ‘musang berjanggut’ games as well as a colouring contest,” Lim added.

It is learned that the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, Social Welfare Department, Northeast District and Land Office, National Registration Department, People’s Information Centre, Bayan Baru Community College, Giat Mara, University Science Malaysia, and Tzu Chi will be setting up their booths at the event as well.
