FOUR JPWKs (Women and Family Development Committees) from different constituencies teamed up to organise a special workshop for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers today.

They are Pantai Jerejak JPWK, Bagan Jermal JPWK, Pulau Betong JPWK and Padang Kota JPWK.

A total of 30 SPM leavers took part in the one-day programme which was held at the Penang Harmony Centre in Scotland Road.

Organising chairperson Jamilah Ghani said the objective of the workshop was to expose and guide the students after taking the SPM examination this year.

“This is important so that they can make the right decision when enrolling for a course whether in public or private higher learning institutions.

“We also guide them on how to apply for a scholarship provided by the Penang government and other institutions or agencies.

“Thus, by doing this programme, we can equip them with relevant knowledge so that they can make a wise choice for themselves.

“After all, they are our country’s valuable asset and we must assist them to have a better future,” Jamilah told Buletin Mutiara during the programme today.

Also present was Pulau Betong assemblyman Mohd Tuah Ismail.

Mohd Tuah commended the collaborative efforts of all four JPWKs to make the programme a success.

“I also hope the SPM leavers who participated in the workshop today can gain useful knowledge to help them decide their future after taking the SPM examination,” he added.
