IN COLLABORATION with the Employment Provident Fund, Lions Club George Town continues to sponsor students RM50 each as part of the ‘Start Saving Early’ campaign.
During an assembly at SMK Tunku Puan Habsah, members of the organisation attended to donate a total of RM10,000 in collaboration with EPF.
SMK Tunku Puan Habsah headmistress Ruzana Zakaria took centre stage, thanking the established club and branch for the latest initiative and their continued support over the years.
Among its charitable contributions, the Lions Club has provided school shoes, spectacles and food aid to students, amounting to RM2,300 per month.
Organising chairman Lion Francis Lim shared at the event the importance of saving up from a young age.
“Today, it may be just RM20 a month, but with time, discipline and the power of compounding, little by little can become something big,” Lim said.
Second Vice District Governor Lion Onnie Goh Hong Aun discussed building a better future for the next generation.
“We believe that investing in our young generation today will help build a better and stronger community tomorrow.
“With our partnership, we are able to make this meaningful project a reality,” Onnie said.
The students who attended the event varied from the ninth to the eleventh grade.
Present at the event as well were Lions Club Georgetown president Kenji Tan and KWSP George Town branch head Makeswari Arumugan.
