Malaysian Big Latch target to break record with 1,000 registrants.

MALAYSIAN Big Latch, a simultaneous breastfeeding event to raise awareness to the public on the importance of giving breastmilk to babies and infants, attempts to break the Malaysia Books of Records come Sept 23 at M Mall New Wing, 1st Floor Atrium, Penang at 1.00pm to 4.00pm.

Big Latch events have been held since 2016 and are gaining recognition as more mothers are participating in this event.

“This year, the event will be held simultaneously at six locations in Malaysia; namely Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Tawau, Kota Kinabalu, Johor and Perak,” assemblymember for Sungai Pinang Lim Siew Kim told at media conference today when she announced the event.

She added the event attempts to break The Malaysia Book of Records held last year where 820 mothers took part.

“Penang is targetting 200 mothers to register for this event which will be held on Sept 23.”

Also present were event organising chairperson, Autumn Tan Chiew Whoi, JCI Pearl 2017 president, Mily Goh, 2018 vice president community and individual , Olivia Lee and executive director of World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), Dr. Amal Omer-Salim.

Lim said Penang have just celebrated the World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) with a big bang and officially launched the Making Penang Breastfeeding Friendly (MPBF) initiative by Chief Minister of Penang, Chow Kon Yeow.

The Chief Minister has also reiterated his commitment to support the MPBF in his Penang Vision 2030 speech.
