MBSP collects RM107mil in assessment fees

THE Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) has successfully collected a total of RM107.56 million in assessment tax between December 2021 and February this year.

MBSP mayor Datuk Azhar Arshad said the amount has exceeded the previous year collection (same period) of RM96.6 million.

“Thus, I would like to thank the residents in Seberang Perai for fulfilling their responsibility by paying the assessment fees within the timeline.

“And the RM107.56 million in assessment tax involved 172,242 transactions out of which 77.43% were done through cashless transactions.

“This shows that the people have started to adapt to the use of digital services in their daily life under the new normal due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“And I hope the use of digital services will continue to increase among the people in Seberang Perai,” Azhar told a press conference after chairing a full council meeting at the MBSP headquarters building in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam today.

Azhar added that MBSP has also prepared 40 lucky draw prizes (including cash prizes) to reward those who had paid their assessment fees online through agencies, banks or kiosks.

“Those who had paid their assessment fees online from Dec 1, 2021 and Feb 28, 2022 are entitled to the lucky draw event.

“The top four winners will get RM10,000, RM5,000, RM3,000, and RM2,000 respectively.

“For fifth place until 10th place, they will be entitled to RM1,000 each.

“Meanwhile, for 11th place until 40th place, they will get attractive prizes such as smartphones, televisions, microwaves, rice cookers, vacuum cleaners and many others,” he said before drawing for the winners today.

Azhar said all winners would be notified through a phone call, email or a letter based on their housing address.

“The public also can access the list of all lucky draw winners through MBSP website at https://www.mbsp.gov.my/ starting from March 29 (Tuesday),” he added.
