A TOTAL of 38 students from low-income (B40) families in the Penang constituency received free laptops to support their transition into higher education institutions.
The state Housing and Environment Committee chairman, Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, officiated the presentation ceremony on Sept 18 at Auditorium F in Komtar.
The laptop distribution marks the final phase of this year’s initiative, which has successfully reached over 100 students entering diploma, degree, and polytechnic programmes.
Speaking at the event, he stated that the initiative aims to relieve the financial burden on B40 families, given that a single laptop can cost around RM2,000.
He emphasised that applicants undergo strict screening to ensure aid reaches those who truly need it, regardless of race.
He encouraged all recipients to focus on their studies and use education as a foundation to build a better future.
