THERE are still some 25,000 eligible iSejahtera recipients in Penang who have not updated their bank account details. This has made payments to them via electronic funds transfer (EFT) by the Penang government difficult.
Penang Welfare and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh said the state is seriously concerned about the matter and is now providing aid to the eligible recipients in cash.
“We are trying to make cash payments with the help of the Village Community Management Councils (MPKK).
“We are tracing those who have not updated their bank account details at their respective state assemblymen’s offices. We are tracing them with the help of the MPKKs.
“The recipients who came to receive their cash payments have been advised to update their bank account details so that payments to them can be made via electronic funds transfer (EFT) in the future,” Phee said today.
A check showed that 24,989 eligible iSejahtera recipients are receiving aid via cash payments for the first phase of this year.
Eligible recipients can visit https://isejahtera.penang.gov.my/muatturun.php to download the form and update their bank account details.
