THE Penang DAP candidate list has been submitted to the DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook, says state DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow.

Chow, who is also the Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, said the state committee has finalised the list during a meeting which was held recently.

“Next, the party secretary-general will bring the list to the party selection committee at the national level to make a final decision on the individuals who will be contesting in the upcoming state election.

“I have been told to give my views about the candidate list to the national party selection committee in the upcoming meeting.

“I expect the meeting to be held soon, after which, we will officially announce the names of all the candidates,” Chow told a press conference when asked about the matter at the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC) office in Bayan Lepas today.

Earlier, Chow was there to launch the opening ceremony of MentorConnect 2023.

When asked about some incumbents who might be dropped from contesting in the upcoming state election, Chow replied that the state committee has met with all the incumbents before finalising the list.

“And we have taken into account the views of the incumbents before we finalise the list.

“Those views will be conveyed to the national party selection committee before the committee makes the final decision,” he said.

Six states, namely Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, will hold their state polls simultaneously on Aug 12, with early polling on Aug 8. Meanwhile, nomination day is on July 29.
