THE Penang State Christmas Celebration 2026 will be held at the Minor Basilica of St Anne in Bukit Mertajam on Dec 12, featuring a Christmas parade, market, live performances and food trucks.
In a statement issued by the Penang Harmony Corporation (HARMONICO), the event is organised by the state government through HARMONICO, together with the Christian Federation Malaysia Penang Liaison Committee and local churches.
The celebration will run from 3pm to 10pm.
The Christmas parade, which returned last year after a gap of nearly 20 years, will feature floats from churches and Christian organisations along a 3km route through Bukit Mertajam.
Themed “Peace and Goodwill”, the celebration aims to bring together churches of different denominations, families, community organisations and members of the public.
Other activities include an open house, Christmas market, live performances and food trucks.
The statement stated the celebration reflected the state government’s commitment to respecting the diversity of faiths and cultures in Penang, while encouraging understanding and friendship among different communities.
Registration is now open for churches and Christian organisations interested in joining the parade.
