“We are using the multipurpose hall here as a place to administer the vaccine for the one-day programme.

“And I would like to say thank you to the south Seberang Perai (SPS) district health office for conducting the vaccination programme today.

“At the same time, this makes it easier for the residents in Pulau Aman to get their vaccine without having to leave the island.

“A total of 15 staff including nurses and doctors were on duty at the island today and they will come here again in another three weeks to administer the second dose.

“On my part together with Pulau Aman Village Community Management Council (MPKK), we provided the facility such as hall, tables, chairs and boats to ensure the vaccine supply from Batu Musang jetty to the island could be transported safely,” Goh said during his visit to the place today.

Among the residents in Pulau Aman to get their first jab today was Ishak Man, 53.

“I registered for the Covid-19 vaccination a few months ago through the MySejahtera application.

“And I am happy that I can finally be vaccinated today together with my wife.

“I also would like to thank YB Goh and Pulau Aman MPKK for their efforts in coordinating the vaccination programme today together with the SPS district health office.

“This makes it easier for all of us as the residents, especially the elderly, in the island to get our jabs,” he said.

Another recipient, Nur Aini Zulkifli, 31, commended the SPS district health office for willing to go to the ground to help the people get vaccinated.

“With this, more people will get vaccinated. As we know, Pulau Aman is also one of the popular tourist locations in Seberang Perai and thus, it is important to ensure everyone here gets their vaccine.

“We hope we can open the island to the public once again when the Covid-19 situation is under control.

“But until then, we should take the vaccine first and follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of the virus,” said Nur Aini, who runs a chalet business in the island.
